About Our Leadership
The Tulsa Boiler Room’s standard for leadership is always Jesus. He is our model and our inspiration. Leadership is only done in a way of serving Him and furthering His purposes. The Boiler Room strives to have and maintain Christ-like leadership. This leadership does not seek position, status, or honor. It does not lead to exercise control. Christ-like leaders are servants, joyfully acknowledging that Jesus is the head of His church. A Christ-like leader maintains no right or hold on any leadership position. The calling to lead is a calling to sacrificially lay down one’s own life.
“Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” -- Matthew 20:25-28
Our leaders seek to serve the members of the Boiler Room. They seek to honor them and love them. They work for their good and their development in Christ. They labor to see them lifted up and fulfilling the vision the Father has for them. They do not use them to advance themselves or their own personal vision.
Boiler Room leadership recognizes that, among the various pitfalls of leadership, pride is the greatest. Therefore they commit to pursuing the virtue of humility with relentless intentionality. They recognize the temptation to attach their identity and value to their leadership position. Yet refuse to accept this. They choose to walk in their identity as a son or daughter, and as a servant of Christ and His people. Their value and their usefulness are in Christ alone.
There are different kinds of leaders in the Boiler Room, though all adhere to the above.

Elders
Elders are the shepherds and overseers of the church. They are charged to watch over the flock and to guard the sound teachings that they have received. They are people of spiritual maturity, and are deeply invested in the life of the Boiler Room. The BR is a priority for them, and they consider this in making personal decisions.
